West Indies Women conceded a 61–run defeat at the hands of India Women last night at the National Stadium, Providence to end the series with a whitewash.

The sub-continent side won the toss and opted to bat first with heavy dew falling amidst cool conditions.

India went on to post 134-3 in their allotted overs before containing the hosts to 73-7 in their 20 overs

India were off to a rocky start, losing Shafali Verma (09) who was out compliments of a sharp return catch by Hayley Matthews and stand-in skipper, Smriti Mandhana (07) who was bowled by Anisa Mohamed cheaply before power outages to two towers resulted in a 22-minute delay. This was the second time in three matches such an incident occurred.

Nevertheless, Jemimah Rodrigues and Veda Krishnamurthy added 117 for the third wicket.

West Indies bowlers were hapless as skipper, Mohamed rang in the changes to no avail.

Krishnamurthy was fortunate to be dropped on 33 by Matthews while two balls later she was given a life on 36 with Shemaine Campbelle missing out on a stumping opportunity.

The 27-year-old pushed to finish unbeaten on 57 from 48 balls, including four boundaries.

Rodrigues on the other end was more patient, scoring an even half century from 56 balls before being bowled by Aaliyah Alleyne after bringing up her landmark.

In the chase, West Indies never got up to the challenge. Anuja Patel (2-3) removed Natasha McClean (09) and Chedean Nation (00) in the fourth over to set the tempo for the Caribbean side.

Only two batters reached double figures with Kyshona Knight top scoring with a 40-ball 22 consisting of two boundaries and Campbelle who remained unbeaten on 19 from 23 balls.
