At least five reported dead in horrific Mahaicony collision

At least five persons are believed to have died following a fatal accident at Mahaicony around midday today.

The five dead persons have been identified as Alana Vaughan who was pregnant, Seecharran Chandilalall the driver of the minibus, Ewart Reynolds, Disreal Montgomery Maxwell Thom, 76, and Keon Sealey, a nurse at the Mahaicony Hospital.

Four persons have been seriously injured including a teenager who lost her arm.

Isles said information so far revealed that the accident occurred after a Route 50 minibus allegedly collided with a Banks DIH truck laden with beverages.

A video of the scene showed six persons, including a heavily pregnant woman, lying on the road and parapet. While two appear to be writhing in pain the four others were motionless. The number 50 bus was completely wrecked and there was a motionless person in the front seat.

Persons could be heard on the video urging that 911 be called and several cases of blue drink cases with their contents were seen scattered.
