Brother cops charged with abducting, wounding teen

Two brothers serving in the Guyana Police Force (GPF) were granted their release this morning after they were jointly charged with abducting and wounding 17-year-old Ak

shay Budhiram, who was allegedly beaten and burnt at the brothers’ La Parfaite Harmonie home.

Isaiah, 26, and Daniel Bernard, 24, both of Lot 1092 Thirty-eighth Street La Parfaite Harmonie appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court and were read two charges.

The first charge alleges that on December 16th, 2019, at Schoonord, West Coast Demerara, the duo abducted Budhiram with intent to wrongfully confine him.

It was further alleged that on the same date and time the brothers unlawfully and maliciously wounded Budhiram with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm.

They denied both charges after it was read to them and were each granted bail in sum of $200,000 for each charge.
