Rose Hall Reef man killed in Christmas morning fracas

The Police say they are investigating the murder of Carlos ‘Tony’Williams, 30, a driver of Lot 267 Rose Hall Reef, Corentyne Berbice, allegedly by a male known as ‘Babba’ of Fyrish Village, Corentyne Berbice who is currently being sought.

The incident ccurred yesterday about 03:20hrs, at Portuguese Quarters, Public Road Corentyne Berbice.

Enquiries disclosed that the deceased, his reputed wife Charlene Harry and friends including Paul Grant, age 28, a businessman of Lot 121 New Housing Scheme Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, were drinking at a club. According to Charlene Harry, Williams left the club and went outside; about ten minutes after she went in search of him, and she saw him and the suspect in a scuffle on the northern parapet . She alleged that she tried to seperate them and the suspect stabbed her in her left thigh.

Grant, the police say also intervened and the suspect lashed him to the left side of his jaw.

The suspect then allegedly took a sharp object and stabbed Williams in the abdomen and escaped.

Williams was taken to Port Mourant Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injury whilst receiving medical attention; Grant and Harry were treated and discharged.

The body of the deceased is presently lying at Ramoo’s Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem examination.
