An arrest warrant was yesterday issued for Diamond nightclub owner Freeman Fordyce.

Fordyce, who was given a four-year suspended sentence in February after being found guilty of illegal firearm and ammunition possession, is set to face charges for the trafficking of Venezuelan women.

During yet another court hearing before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, Fordyce was again a no-show and his attorney, Ashley Henry, told the court that the accused was contacted and is aware of the court date but she was not certain why he was not present.

Chief Magistrate McLennan then asked the prosecutor if there was any update on the summons issued for Fordyce.

Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield then told the court that attempts were made on several occasions to serve the summons at the defendant’s address and place of business but they were unsuccessful.

The Chief Magistrate then requested to see the return on the summons. Afterward, an arrest warrant was issued for Fordyce.

The matter was then adjourned until April 24th.

The current charges against Fordyce stem from a raid at the George Street club, where a number of foreign nationals were found by the police. The police carried out the raid after a video was posted on Facebook showing women scaling the fence to enter the locked compound.

On February 1st, Fordyce was handed a four-year suspended sentence for the firearm and ammunition charges by Magistrate Faith McGusty. That judgment is being appealed by the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
