Other retirees are paid monthly pensions one week before retired soldiers

Dear Editor,

Why are police retirees and other Government retirees afforded their monthly pensions over one week before retired soldiers?

In March 2019 the police and other Government retirees had their pension payable on Tuesday 19th March at the banks in Georgetown. Whereas, retired solders had theirs payable on Thursday 28th March at the Post Office in Georgetown. It is one’s guess what plays out in outlying areas in the regions.

This tells us how unfairly retired soldiers are being treated and regarded in a 21st Century Guyana. I find it totally unacceptable and it must cease forthwith.

Yours faithfully,

Denis Edwards
