UG Diaspora and Entrepreneurship Conference postponed

Dear Editor,

The University of Guyana’s second Diaspora and Entrepreneurship Conference scheduled for July 21-25, 2019, will now be held on a date to be announced.

The decision to postpone the conference was taken at a recent meeting between the conference planning committee and the University’s Transitional Management Team, to assess a series of factors which might impact the hosting of a successful conference. These factors include several possible pervasive local and international occurrences.

While a new date has not yet emerged, the organisers of the conference expect that it will be held within the next six months. However, registrants and sponsors who have already made payments and donations for the conference will be able to receive refunds from the University’s Bursary.

The University of Guyana’s first Diaspora Conference was held in 2017 under the theme; Dreaming Diaspora Engagement, Doing Diaspora Engagement. The diaspora conference recognises the potential of the diaspora in national and regional development, and The University of Guyana’s role in interrogating and facilitating dialogue amongst this important Guyanese constituent.

For updates, interested parties are asked to continue to monitor the media and the conference website: https://diasporaconference.uog.edu.gy/

Yours faithfully,

Paulette Paul
