Brewery edgesTrisco in Banksinter-department cricket

Central Service upset Soft Drink Plant while Brewery edged Trisco when the Banks DIH Limited inter-department cricket competition  continued on Tuesday at Thirst Park.

Central Service defeated traditional giant Soft Drink Plant by seven wickets.

Batting first under the clear night sky, Soft Drink Plant could only muster a below par score of 70-5 from their allotted 10 overs.

T. Belgrave top scored with 21 runs [2x6s], with J. Mentore adding 12 runs. Extras was the second best scorer, adding 13 runs to the score.

In reply, Central Service raced to 71-3 in eight overs. Extras was the top scorer for the winners  as an indisciplined bowling effort incurred 21 runs.

 J. McAllister top scored with 13 runs while R. Woolford closely followed with 10 runs.

Meanwhile, Brewery defeated Trisco by three wins in a high scoring thriller.

Opting to bat first, Brewery romped to an imposing 103-3 in a reduced eight-overs-a-side contest. R. Barnwell smashed 44 runs highlighted by 3x6s and 2x4s.

He was supported the always dangerous A. Boodhna, who scored a brisk 27 runs [3x6s, 2x4s] and N. Mendonca, scorer of 21 runs [3x4s].

Despite a belligerent innings of 50 runs [4x6s, 6x4s] from C. Rambharose, Trisco fell agonizingly short in their pursuit of the total, ending on 100-2 in their allotment of overs.

The next best contributor was T. Abel with 22 runs [2x6s]. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of group matches.
