The selection committee of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) has shortlisted a female and male volleyball team to represent Guyana in the upcoming Inter-Guianas volleyball tournament set to spike off in French Guiana from May 2-4.

Participation in the tournament is crucial to the further development of the sport in Guyana by affording the junior players the opportunity to display and match their talents internationally.

As such, the federation will be hosting two fundraising activities to ensure the player’s participation. The first fundraiser will roll off today in the form of a ‘B’ division volleyball tournament and take away BBQ at the Apprentice Training Centre in Berbice.

In the same vein, the GVF will also be convening a National Female Volleyball festival on April 13 and 14 at the National Gymnasium from 09:00hrs.

Benny Sukra is the main sponsor; trophies and incentives are at stake. Teams expected to participate are Castrol Strikers, Vanguards, CBB, Port Mourant Females, Pakuri Warriors, Glasgow Rangers and Fluffy Girls.

The selected female players are as follows: Kelshine Griffith, Hannah Hicks, Amesha Mohabir, Famke David, Cherry Ann Fraser, Candacy Mentore, Philana Simpson, Cassie Junior, Kelanie Griffith, Shanariah David,

Male players: Andy Rohoman, Ronaldo Bobb, Hellond Singh, Tyrone Farley, Kristoff, Shepperd, Terrence Groenhart, Levi Nedd Jr., Jaleel Roberts, Daniel Joseph, Diaymion Al Ahamad, Montel Denny, Kevin Todd, Steffon Norah.
