Raymond Latchmansingh passes away – GAPE

Veteran engineer Raymond Latchmansingh has passed away, according to the Guyana Association of Professional Engineers (GAPE) in a Facebook post.

It posted the following statement:

GAPE has learnt with profound regret of the passing of Eng. Raymond Bernard Latchmansingh AA BSc(Eng). CEng. MICE FGAPE. RBL as he was familiarly called started his career as an Engineer in the Ministry of Works, Hydraulics and Supply in 1971 and rose through the ranks to the senior position of Chief Hydraulics Officer prior to his retirement. On retirement, he entered private practice was one of the co-founders of the Caribbean Engineering and Management Consultancy (CEMCO), which has grown under his leadership to become one of the leading consulting engineering companies in Guyana.

During his career, he worked on a number of landmark drainage and irrigation (D&I) projects including the Tapakuma Drainage and Irrigation scheme, the Mahaica-Mahaicony-Abary agricultural development project, numerous sluices and pump stations and more recently the Hope Canal and outfall sluice.

For his service to Guyana in the field of engineering, he was awarded a Golden Arrow of Achievement (AA).

While GAPE mourns his passing we also celebrate his life and are grateful for the contributions he made to the development of our country and our nation’s infrastructure.
