Tickets for Providence T20s on sale from tomorrow

With just 40 percent capacity allowed at the National Stadium, Providence for the three T20Is between West Indies and Pakistan, fans might be in a hurry to purchase tickets which go on sale from tomorrow at various locations.

This is according to a release from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) following the announcement that fully vaccinated fans will get a chance to see live international cricket at Providence for the first time since August, 2019.

“The Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) in partnership with Cricket West Indies (CWI) have come together to ensure fully vaccinated fans can be in attendance. Fully vaccinated fans are those who have received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at least one week before the date of the match they will be attending,” the release noted.

The release continued, “Tickets prices are $4,000(GYD) for each match.  There are three locations where fans can make ticket purchases: GCB office-Regent Road, Bourda, Imran & Son -73 ‘A’ Rose Hall Town, Berbice, and at Imam Bacchus & Sons – Affiance, Essequibo Coast.”

Fans can purchase tickets for themselves, friends and family between 09.00 hours and 17.00 hours daily while on match days, they can do so from 07.00 hours. Gates open from 07.30 hours with admission only possible for Red, Green and Orange stands.

However, fans entering the stadium will have to present valid vaccine and identification cards to the Ministry of Health officials present along with their match day tickets to gain entry.

There is a no re-entry policy as well as the barring of persons under 18 years of age.

Spectators will need to wear facemasks to gain entry to the matches and then keep wearing masks throughout. 

Fans will also need to remain socially distanced at all times.

Additionally, all entrants will be allowed to carry coolers that can fit under their seats, bagged ice and food since there will be no vending in the Stadium.

Alcohol, glass bottles or sharp metal objects and firearms are prohibited.

The release quoted Chief Executive Officer of Cricket West Indies, Johnny Grave as saying, “As we make a welcome return to Guyana there is great anticipation and expectation as our passionate loyal supporters will get a chance to see the West Indies in action. This is great news for our fans who we know will be eager to attend the three Osaka Presents PSO Cup West Indies vs Pakistan T20Is at the National Stadium at Providence.”

He added, “In the build-up to the matches, we have worked with our colleagues at the GCB and the government to make sure all the necessary protocols are in place and all requirements are met to ensure the safety of players, officials, and spectators. Our T20 team has been in superb form and we hope to see them continue in this vein and give the people of Guyana and the whole of the West Indies plenty to shout about.”

The action begins over the weekend with back-to-back matches on Saturday and Sunday while the final match is set for Tuesday. All matches bowl off from 11.00 hours local time.
