Pamper Me Kids Spa has been creating waves in Linden, particularly as a place to celebrate birthdays; so huge is the buzz that even adults are trying to get in on the revitalizing spa packages.

The business was established on Emancipation Day this year and is owned by Taneila Croal, who also has several other small businesses, including Neila’s Hair and Nails Empire, which has been around for several years now. The business owner shared that she never thought of a kids’ spa until coming across one during one of her trips to Georgetown about a year ago. This piqued her interest and she decided to do her own bit of research to see what she needed to run such a business. She wanted to offer children the same amenities.

What Croal has since found is that many city dwellers did not even know there was a spa in Georgetown, as they were calling to book spots for their children at her place. They were disappointed to learn that Pamper Me Kids Spa was located in Linden. Should all go well, Pamper Me Kids Spa hopes to have a branch in the city in a year’s time.

Croal said at present she receives many of her clients through referrals. The spa is booked every week. She said that when she first thought of the business, she had no intention of catering for adults, as she felt her hair and nails business was doing that already. Both businesses are housed in the same building, which is possibly why the spa has been attracting customers of all ages. Now not only children enjoy the spa services but men and women also.

“The kids have been really excited about the business,” she said. “They have been saying it’s five stars and even some of our older guests have been saying it’s the best spa ever. I think they are very satisfied at the end of their appointment and they always tell their parents that they want to come again. Some say they want to come every week, some want to come every month, they don’t want to wait until another birthday… Persons are really, really enjoying.”

The Pampered Princess Makeover includes manicure, polished nails with nail polish specially made for children, pedicure, facial inclusive of exfoliation and sheet mask, facial steam for older children, cupcakes, a goody bag, and a creative segment that allows them to do their own face designing or makeup They also receive a complimentary glass of sparkling grape juice or non-alcoholic wine. An individual session takes an average of an hour while a group of five or six can take up to three hours.

One of Croal’s favourites is the Daddy and Me Package. So far she has had two fathers enjoy the spa service with their daughters. Additionally, Croal and her staff of two decorate themed spaces for clients celebrating birthdays. Packages are not only designed for girls but have been tailored for boys too. Croal shared about providing the service to a brother and sister recently.

Pamper Me Kids Spa is open six days a week (it is closed on Sundays). Business, she said, is usually great on weekends and at its peak coming on to the closing of the month. So far, she has seven bookings for this month, which are expected to increase.

While most of the things she needs for the spa are sourced right in Linden, the children’s nail polish is purchased online as she has not been able to find it locally.

One challenge Croal faced initially was finding robes of all sizes for the children. She has since been able to rectify this issue. She is skilled at sewing, so she just made them herself.

At the time Croal spoke with Stabroek Weekend, she was in the process of putting together a promotion for children who have completed the National Grade Six Assessment. The promotion entails the children liking posts, sharing and tagging others. The three contestants who secured the most likes, shares and comments will win a spa package.

For Croal it is not just about providing a unique service but also offering quality. Prior to being pampered and treated, clients are walked through what they will be enjoying which usually makes it all the more exciting. The service leaves them feeling more relaxed and she said the intention is to make them feel like royalty.

Pamper Me Kids Spa also offers Mommy and Me, Self-care Prince, Best Friends Pamper Date, Divas Pamper Party, and Paint and Pamper packages. There is also a sip and paint package that comes at an additional cost.

The spa caters for birthday events and other private parties.

The business has social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. It can be contacted via telephone on 613-1818.
