Sudesh Charran, age 22 years, a labourer of Lot 3964 Westminster, West Bank Demerara was crushed to death yesterday at 4.20 pm outside of the F & R Supermarket, Lot 29 Stelling Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
According to a statement from the police, enquiries disclosed that the victim was walking under a metal lift to go into the supermarket when it fell from the upper flat and pinned him to the ground of the lower flat.
As a result, workers rushed to his aid and used a piece of wood and jack and raised the metal lift. They then managed to pull the victim out but by this time he was motionless and a large wound was seen at the top of his head.
He was pronounced dead at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
