Young fast bowling sensation Jayden Seales has set his sights on getting the early breakthrough for West Indies if given the chance in their upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka.

The 20-year-old quick is early into his career and is on the verge of playing his first away series.

Ahead of that tour of Sri Lanka, yesterday he spoke to the media on his plans.

“Once given the opportunity in this series, just try to be economical and try and get early breakthroughs and build as much pressure for the bowlers and work hard for the team so we can get the results we are after,” he said.

“For me it’s just to go out there and execute my plans as best as I could, try and work with the conditions and see what I could do for the team…It’s the first time I am playing down here so I will have to assess the conditions as best as I can and bowl to the best of my ability,” the Trinidadian added.

Seales has featured in four Tests to date and has captured 16 wickets with a career-best of 5-55.

“I’m very satisfied with the performances from my debut series and the series after that and it is just for me to look to build on those performances now and obviously improve on the areas I have to and areas I can improve on and try put my best foot forward for the team,” he said.

However, he is wary that the spin friendly conditions could be challenging to replicate the success he gained in the Caribbean.

Seales highlighted that working with Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach has been a positive for him as they helped him with his patience and plans to hit the right areas and work out batsmen.

The first Test is expected to begin on November 21 but prior to that, West Indies will play in a four-day warm up match beginning today.
