The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) suffered a shutdown this afternoon.
Minister in the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar said on his Facebook page that initial reports indicate that an explosion at the F7 feeder at the Kingston No.2 plant caused a “cascading shutdown” of the system.
GPL has since said that repowering of the system has begun.
