No `imminent’ plan for Blinken to visit Guyana – US Embassy

With reference to the news item published by Stabroek News on April 20, 2022, under the caption `U.S. Secretary of State Blinken to visit in June’ the US Embassy today said that it wished to advise “that there is no such visit planned at this time”.  In the event of such a high-level visit, the U.S. Embassy said it would inform and coordinate with the Government of Guyana.  

“The U.S.-Guyana relationship is important, and the United States continues to share a strong bilateral partnership with Guyana. The U.S. Embassy is proud to continue furthering our productive partnership”, a statement from the US Embassy headed `No Imminent Plan for U.S. Secretary of State to visit Guyana’ said. 

Stabroek News had reported that based on its sources, a visit was planned for June this year.

Guyana recently hosted  a visit of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Caribbean Affairs and Haiti in the US Department of State, Barbara Feinstein.
