The Demerara Harbour Bridge reopened to vehicular traffic at 9 tonight after having been closed since early Saturday morning following a collision.

Traffic up to 12 tonnes is being permitted.

“So, sand trucks and other cargo-bearing trucks with up to 18 tonnes which are usually allowed, we are asking you to hold, some of the empty trucks will be able to cross, once you are not more than 12 tonnes; canters, and other vehicles. We will have the teller and everything in place for 9 o clock tonight [and] we will be able to move through,” Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works had said earlier in the evening.
