Guyana’s Minister of Natural Resources and India’s Minister of Petroleum  met today in the United Arab Emirates where they discussed  energy sector cooperation.

A release from the Indian High Commission said that  Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Housing & Urban Affairs of India met  Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Natural Resource of Guyana in Abu Dhabi yesterday on the sidelines  Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2022).

“Both the Ministers discussed areas of cooperation in the energy sector. Minister Puri underlined that Indian companies will assist the Guyanese in training engineers for upstream & downstream sectors so that they can maximize production from their landmark discoveries”.

India has expressed interest in accessing Guyana’s crude oil but there was no mention of this in the press release today.

In October of this year, Reuters reported Puri as saying that discussions were underway with Guyana, Brazil and Colombia for joint investment and extra supplies of crude for Indian refiners.
