Two cops, mason remanded over drugs

The police today said that Sheldon Benjamin, a 32-year-old mason of Vigilance, ECD, along with two police constables, 29-year-old Albert Beresford (stationed at Clonbrook Police Station) and 22-year-old Julius Cambridge (stationed at Cane Grove Outpost), were all arrested on 2023/01/16 and charged jointly on 2023/01/25 with the following offences:

*** Possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking (Cannabis) Contrary to Section 5(1) (a)7 (i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act 10/10.

*** Possession of Ammunition without Licence, Contrary to Section 16 (2) (a) of the Firearm Act Chapter 16:05.

They appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, where the charges were read to them. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to prison until 2023-02-28, the police said.
