(Nation News) The Transport Board will soon be rolling out its “cashless” system on board buses.
And pensioners will continue to travel free with a tap of the new Trident identification cards.
“The card readers/validators have already been installed on all active Transport Board buses, including all the electric ones, where a passenger will be able to tap their RFID (radio frequency identification) card on the validator which will then check to see if that passenger has funds on the card. Passengers will be able to ‘top-up’ their cards at various locations islandwide,” a senior official of Transpay, who did not wish to be named, told the Daily Nation.
Transpay is the company working with Government to roll out the automated system and there will be user acceptance testing this month, where people will be given cards and simulate paying for fares, prior to full implementation.
