Police officer’s son shot dead in Trinidad

(Trinidad Guardian) The hunt is now on for a man who shot and killed a police officer’s son at his Princes Town home last night.

Damion Blackwell, 21, was an orderly employed with the South West Regional Health Authority.

Reports say at around 9 PM he was washing his car, a burgundy Almera, outside his Sixth Company, Circular Road, home when he suddenly ran inside his house.

Police say he was being chased by a man wearing a white jersey and an orange reflector vest.

The suspect fired several shots at Blackwell and then ran off.

He was later pronounced dead.

Blackwell’s mother is a police officer attached to the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3.

Investigators are still gathering information and have not yet ascertained a motive.
