CANU destroys over 1,000 kg cannabis

The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) today destroyed 1090.58 kilograms (almost 2,225 pounds) of cannabis, with a street value of approximately US$2.5 million.

 

A release from CANU said that Minister of Home Affairs,  Robeson Benn;  James Singh, Head of CANU;  Rayon Samuels, Deputy Head CANU and others observed the drug destruction exercise.

 

A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the cases for which  the narcotics were kept for evidence have all been concluded in the Magistrate’s courts.

Singh, stated that the quantity of narcotics burnt today is just a fraction of the amount of drugs seized for the year 2023.
