Bandits caught on camera raiding Lusignan supermarket

Police are investigating an armed robbery at around 7.34 pm last night on two cashiers at the Hong Yuang Supermarket located at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

The two female cashiers at the supermarket, Xie Zie Ying, age 50, and Xie Zi Xia, age 46, were robbed of a quantity of GTT and Digicel phone cards (value unknown) and an undisclosed amount of cash, the police said in a statement.

Enquiries disclosed that the four suspects arrived at the supermarket on two (Red and Black XR) motorcycles.

They parked in front of the supermarket, and two of them immediately rushed in and simultaneously held both victims (cashiers) at gunpoint. After that, they went into the cash register and took the items mentioned.

The suspects then returned to their motorcycles and escaped South on Lusignan Access Road, the police said.

Releasing still images from CCTV footage, the police said that anyone who can identify any of the suspects should contact the police on 696-4862.
