The government has approved a salary adjustment for teachers paid below the minimum of their applicable scale. Their salary will now be brought up to the minimum of the scale of the current year. The adjustments will take effect from October 1 this year.
This is according to a circular from the Finance Secretary to the respective ministries dated September 12. The circular was released on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Education today.
A one-off arrears payment will be made for eligible teachers for the period September 1 2020 to September 30 2023, the circular said.
The Accountant General’s Department will generate the list of eligible employees for salary adjustments and forward same to the respective agencies by close of business on October 4th, 2023. The respective agencies will be required to confirm the eligibility of employees for the salary adjustment and return the verified list to the Ministry of Finance by close of business on October 9th, 2023.
