President Irfaan Ali says that his Government is positioning Guyana as a “major destination for eco-tourism” with Central American nation, Costa Rica, as a model.
“We’re embarking on a programme to work closely with the Government of Costa Rica in helping us to develop our eco-tourism product in Guyana”, a release from the Office of the President said.
The Head of State made these remarks following bilateral discussions with the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, this afternoon at the Presidential House in San Jose.
President Ali also said that he has expressed an interest in collaborating with President Robles at COP 28 on issues of the forests, environment, and climate, “and for us to work closely together to ensure energy security and food security of the region”.
Both leaders during the meeting, agreed to advance cooperation in the area of agriculture.
