(Trinidad Guardian) People who suffer from asthma and other respiratory diseases are being asked to take the necessary precautions, as there is currently a significant concentration of Saharan Dust in the atmosphere.
The warning came from the Meteorological Service of T&T via a media release yesterday.
“A significant concentration of Saharan Dust is currently present. Conditions may be unhealthy for sensitive persons, so caution is advised,” the Met office advised in a social emdia posting.
It added, “Today (Sunday 24th December 2023) is the peak of this dust episode. Levels should drop to moderate between Monday and Tuesday and mild concentrations are expected by Wednesday.
“Sensitive persons are advised to continue to take the necessary precautions.”
Social media was busy and active all day yesterday, with users posting images of the Saharan Dust over the Northern Range, which made the mountains look misty with a sheen blanket over them.
