A Woman Superintendent, a Corporal and other Ranks from Regional Police Division #3 were performing security duty at the Leonora Stadium, West Coast Demerara, at around 11 last night when they observed, intercepted and searched a 42-year-old man who was acting suspiciously and who was later found to have an unlicensed 9mm pistol and eighteen live matching rounds of ammunition in his possession.

A release today from the police said that the officer and ranks were at the main gate of the stadium where a show was being held when a man whose name was later learnt to be Teon Allen called ‘Spoil Child’, from Georgetown, was walking into the stadium with a black Gucci side bag and acting suspiciously.

As a result, he was stopped and asked to submit to a search. Despite some resistance, Police managed to search him and the bag he was carrying. He was found to have a 9 mm Pistol along with a magazine containing eighteen live 9 mm rounds of ammunition in the bag.

He was asked if he had a licence to carry the firearm and he refused to cooperate with the Police and began to behave in a disorderly manner.

He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station, along with the firearm and ammunition. On arrival, he was again asked if he was a licensed firearm holder and he said “no”.

The suspect was placed into custody pending charges.
