Tug drifts into Demerara Harbour Bridge

A full Investigation will be launched into the tug and barge (OME Tone 1) which came into contact yesterday with spans 12, 13 and connected pontoons of the Demerara Habour Bridge.

 

This will be spearheaded by the technical experts of the Maritime Administration Department Guyana, according to a post by Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill.

 

At approximately 19:30 hrs, a tug operating on the construction site of the New River Crossing bridge, drifted toward the southern side of the existing Demerara Harbour Bridge and came in contact with four buoys at span 12 and 13; with two connected pontoons.
