(Trinidad Express) The brother-in-law of Crystal Harricharan, the mom who pleaded for protection until her murder last Tuesday, has been shot dead at her wake.

Dead is Sham Bridgelal, 53.

Police say that at around 12.20a.m today, a car pulled up outside the Harricharan house while a wake was being held.

Bridgelal and others were outside the house at Boodoo Trace, Claxton Bay.

Two gunmen began shooting.

Bridgelal was hit multiple times and died.

Harricharan’s funeral was supposed to be held today.

It is uncertain if it will proceed, since her home is now a crime scene.

Since last year, mother of two Crystal Harricharan knew she was targeted for death.

The attack started after she had a falling out with someone from her village.

She fled her home after a firebombing attack, and went into hiding.

She called the St Margaret’s Police Station many times asking for help, her relatives said.

Up to Monday, she was on the phone asking for protection.

Homicide officers were called to Jarvis Street, San Fernando this morning, after Harricharan was executed in the driver’s seat of her car.

CCTV footage show Harricharan walking to her vehicle parked on the compound of a businessman.

She had just left the home of a male companion, at around 7.10a.m.

When Harricharan got into her car, a white Nissan B-15 pulled up nearby.

The hooded killer ran to her window and began shooting.

He pulled open the door, shot her some more, then left.
