Police take control of Rio slum, catch drug lords

RIO DE JANEIRO,  (Reuters) – Police arrested gang  members and seized large quantities of drugs and weapons in a  large Rio de Janeiro slum they occupied today, in a major  advance in the war against the city’s drug lords.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, (Reuters) – Haiti’s elections ended  in confusion today as 12 of the 18 presidential candidates  denounced “massive fraud” and called for cancellation of the  results as street protests erupted over voting irregularities.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, (Reuters) – Gunmen disrupted the  final campaign rally in Haiti of a charismatic presidential  contender, stoking tensions on the eve of tomorrow’s elections in  a nation racked by cholera and political uncertainty.

TT, Guyana lawyers draw Twenty20 series

(TT Newsday) The two-match T20 series between the visiting Guyanese Lawyers Cricket Team and their TT counterparts ended in a draw over the weekend as both sides continue their preparation for the 3rd Lawyers Cricket World Cup next year.

Caribbean Airlines CEO quits, new acting chief appointed

Caribbean Airlines announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, Captain Ian Brunton has demitted office and that Vice President Commercial and Customer Experience of Caribbean Airlines and Air Jamaica, Robert Corbie who had been acting as CEO of the Trinidadian owned airline for the last week, has been appointed acting CEO.
