-Rose is new three point shooting champ; Hamid retains dunk title After losing to Linden for the past two years in the Junior All-Star game, Georgetown regained the Junior All-Star title when they defeated Linden 83-67 Friday night as the Wildfire Entertainment’s All-Star Basketball Weekend commenced at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

MCYS distributes tennis tables to 22 schools

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) launched the National Schools Table Tennis Programme yesterday by donating 22 brand new  tennis tables to 22 schools in various administrative regions across Guyana.

-Chef de Mission of Guyana’s Commonwealth Games team Garfield Wiltshire says that Guyana’s athletes have potential, but need the required training to be able to compete with world class athletes Chef-de-Mission of Guyana’s contingent to the recent Commonwealth Games and Treasurer of the Guyana Olympic Association, Garfield Wiltshire says  that the results obtained by Guyana’s athletes at the Games can be improved in the future with the proper training.

Free-throws cost Scorpions in overtime

It is often said in the basketball community that free-throws win games and this was exemplified on Thursday night when the Ravens defeated the Scorpions 77-75 in overtime in game one of their three-game series in the Division Three final of the Pepsi Street Playoff Series.

Pacesetters squeeze past Ravens in game one

The Court Pacesetters drew first blood in the finals of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association Pepsi Street Playoff Series with a 74-70 point win against the Ravens last night at the Burnham basketball court.

Pacesetters, Ravens set up final showdown

The two finalists in the Open Division of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Pepsi Street Playoff Series were decided on Thursday night at the Burnham Basketball Court after the Courts Pacesetters tossed aside the Macabees 77-60 and Ravens outscored Beepat Scorpions 68-53.

Debriefing session “very fruitful”

The private meeting between Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony, and the management of Guyana’s Amazon Conquerors cricket team at the ministry’s office on Main Street yesterday was described as “very fruitful.”

Stadium may be Guyana’s new cycling circuit

The Guyana National Stadium at Providence is already, in many instances,  a multi-sport  venue with the hosting of cricket, rugby and football matches  there and it will potentially host another discipline as cycling may be taken to the venue in the near future.
