GM&SA’s Nokta calls takeover of Berbice Bridge alarming

While concerned over the proposed hikes in the Berbice Bridge tolls, the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GM&SA) on Thursday voiced its concern about government’s recent move to take control of the Berbice River Bridge, saying it does not bode well for future investments.

University of Guyana awards honorary degrees

The University of Guyana (UG) yesterday inaugurated its honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) degree with awards to four Guyanese who have made their mark in the fields of music, business, philanthropy and Indigenous peoples’ rights.

CCJ strikes out bid to challenge admissions process at regional law schools

The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Friday dismissed an attempt to challenge the process for admission to the region’s three law schools as discriminatory against holders of non-University of the West Indies (UWI) law degrees, saying that it would be “pointless” to allow the proceedings since it has no jurisdiction over the Council of Legal Education (CLE), which operates the schools.

Four injured in Auchlyne crash

Four persons were rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital with minor injuries yesterday after the hire car they were travelling in crashed into a parked car along the Auchlyne Village, Corentyne public road.
