GPH doctors saw no signs of rape during Colwyn Harding treatment

Senior doctors at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) yesterday said signs of the alleged rape were not seen at any time since Colwyn Harding’s hospitalisation last month and that he did not tell any of the medical staff attending to him that he had been sexually assaulted with a baton by police.

More expert evidence permitted with amended law

An amendment to the Evidence Act, passed on Thursday in Parliament, will now make it easier for mothers in paternity disputes to prove their case in a court of law as well as speed up the presentation of evidence in other matters.

348 army officers, ranks promoted

President Donald Ramotar, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has approved the promotion of 348 members of the Guyana Defence Force in accordance with the Defence Act Chapter 15:01, of 1977.

Guyana, Guatemala ink pact for political consultations

Guyana has signed an Agreement on Political Consultations with Guatemala that would provide a mechanism for both countries to develop coordinated positions on several matters and allow regular exchanges on areas of common interest on the regional and international agendas.

Father, son die in Land of Plenty accident

Police say that at about 1400h today, Muntaz Baksh, 72 years, and his son Rasmat Baksh, 44 years, of Land of Plenty, Essequibo Coast, were walking along the Land of Plenty main road, when it is alleged that they strayed into the path of a motor car that was proceeding in the same direction and were struck down.
