Granger, Jagdeo in ‘positive’ talks

President David Granger and Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday held their first meeting on the December 21 passage of the no-confidence motion and there appeared to be agreement that pending any court decisions, the government continues to function and preparations would be made for early general elections.

Jagdeo expects general elections before April 30

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has enough time between now and April 30 when the current voters’ list becomes invalid to hold elections, according to Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo who yesterday warned that once this period passes the government becomes illegitimate.
