Sheet Anchor woman chopped to death, husband on the run

The Police say they are investigating the murder of Mintie Karamchand, 40, a waitress of Lot 19 Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice, which occurred today at the said address, allegedly by her reputed husband who is currently being pursued by a team comprising police and civilians, in the Canje River.

Lewis launches scathing attack on Jagdeo at sugar rally

President of the Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) Lincoln Lewis launched a scathing on former President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday whilst speaking at the Albion/ Port Mourant Rally and March organised by the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) to express solidarity with sugar workers (see other story on page 16).

Nandlall’s Law Reports trial begins

The trial of former Attorney General Anil Nandlall, who is charged with fraudulently converting over $2 million in Law Reports which were allegedly the property of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, commenced yesterday with evidence by the accounts clerk and the former stores clerk.
