A 39-year-old man was arrested during a sting operation on Friday after he allegedly tried to bribe a police officer with $500,000 to secure the release of his son, who had been arrested last week over the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

A 39 year old ‘C’ Field, Sophia man who yesterday tried to bribe a policeman with half of a million dollars to release his 19 year old son who was earlier yesterday arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, was himself arrested, during a sting operation and the cash lodged as exhibits.

CJIA expansion on track to meet deadline -Patterson

Public Infrastructure Minister David Patterson yesterday said that the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) expansion project is on course to meet its December, 2017 deadline and while this year’s budget allocation for the works is nearly exhausted, the government will soon access the remainder to facilitate the completion.
