LaRocque installed as new Caricom SG

Ambassador Irwin LaRocque this morning assumed the Office of Caricom Secretary-General and pledged that it will not be business as usual as it relates to the regional integration movement.

Security boosted at Ogle Airport

Security has been beefed up at the Ogle Airport following the ramming open of a gate by a fuel tanker and several meetings are expected to address the serious civil aviation issues raised as the police continue a probe that will likely lead to charges.

Muritaro toshao passes away

The National Toshaos Council yesterday revealed that the toshao of Muritaro, Lester Fleming had passed away after a brief illness “We, the members of The National Toshaos Council (NTC) extend our most sincere sympathies to the family and relatives of the late Toshao Lester Fleming of Muritaro Village, Region 10 and Member of the NTC Executive”, the NTC said in a statement via GINA.

Kurutuku Toshao stranded

Toshao of Kurutuku, Solomon Lewis is stranded in Georgetown. The leader of the remote Region Seven Amerindian settlement had left his community along the Cuyuni River on July 22 to travel to Georgetown for the National Toshaos Conference.
