Republicans fail again to kill off Obamacare in U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON,  (Reuters) – U.S. Republicans yesterday fell short yet again in their seven-year drive to repeal Obamacare, in a bitter defeat that raises more questions about their ability to enact President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Saudi king decrees women be allowed to drive

RIYADH/WASHINGTON,  (Reuters) – Saudi King Salman yesterday ordered that women be allowed to drive cars, ending a conservative tradition seen by rights activists as an emblem of the Islamic kingdom’s repression of women.

Dominica in urgent need of food and water, finds UN assessment team

A United Nations disaster assessment official visiting Dominica, which was battered by Hurricane Maria, said yesterday that an estimated 60,000 to 65,000 people, or 80 per cent of the total population, have been affected and that food and water are the most immediate needs, a release from the United Nations Information Centre said.

Mexicans turn to church as earthquake death toll hits 320

MEXICO CITY,  (Reuters) – Mexicans packed churches on Sunday to pray for the victims of the country’s deadliest quake in 32 years as rescue teams searched against the odds for any survivors trapped under rubble since Tuesday’s tremor shook Mexico City and nearby states.
