Dear Editor, Permit me to make a few comments on Mr Dennis Wiggins’ letter  ‘The actions of heads of state should be viewed in their totality not in isolation’ (SN, May 8).

Dear Editor, Reference is made to your very sympathetic editorial titled ‘Burnham Award’ (Sunday Stabroek, April 28) endorsing a planned South African Oliver Tambo honour for the struggle against apartheid (that was subsequently withdrawn) to the late oppressive dictator Forbes Burnham.

Dear Editor, Rawsi Williams stated: “To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through, is to be a nurse.”

Dear Editor, Despite the fact that the AFC is part of the combined opposition, it would sometimes stand independently and stick to its decisions on some parliamentary issues, being guided by its democratic principles, policies and vision, relative to change for a better Guyana.

Dear Editor, During consideration of the estimates for Region 8 in Parliament, our Vice-Chairman Mr Moses Nagamootoo, asked whether the Regional Budget was based on consultation with the RDC, inclusive of the Chairman and Councillors. 

Dear Editor, Public figures, their legacies, and of course attempts at memorialisation of such figures, always remain to a large extent beyond the reach of their families or others who wish to privilege their most favoured or favourable attributes.

Dear Editor, Once again May 5, Indian Arrival Day, was celebrated in various parts of the country and a tremendous effort was put in by various groups to make it full of pomp and gaiety and to provide an abundance of very delightful entertainment so it would be successful.

Dear Editor, The Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment has made it clear via a press release that he has cancelled the Marudi Mountain mining lottery.

Dear Editor, The Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) refers to a letter published in the Tuesday, May 7 edition of Stabroek News under the caption, ‘Clarification needed of Minister Persaud’s evasive responses to questions about Bai Shan Lin,’ by Ms Janette Bulkan.

Dear Editor, Earlier this year President Ramotar is reported to have said that he was still open to compromise with the opposition.

Dear Editor, Ms Mala Persaud vented her anger against Stella Ramsaroop in her missive of May 7 captioned ‘Stella Ramsaroop should deal with domestic violence in the United States.’

Dear Editor, I am very disheartened that Stabroek News printed a letter intended to be a very personal attack on my wife Stella Ramsaroop.

Dear Editor, It is singing season, which confirms that we are a nation of crooners. 

Dear Editor, I refer to the letter by Vidyaratha Kissoon captioned ‘Colonial homophobia’ (SN, May 4) and would appreciate the opportunity to comment.

Dear Editor, Transportation is fundamental for the development of the economy of any country.

Dear Editor, I just finished looking at the power point presentation of the Profile of Guyana- China Timber Industry Economic and Trading Cooperation Park, which was alluded to in your news item, ‘Bai Shan Lin holds 960,000 hectares of forest’ (May 5).

Dear Editor, GPL is pulling wool over the eyes of their customers and telling then it is high-tech contact lenses.

Dear Editor, President Jacob Zuma and the ANC-led South African Government’s decision to name Forbes Burnham as a recipient of The Order of the Companions of O R Tambo award, South Africa’s highest award for foreign nationals, has proven to be a terrible miscalculation.

Dear Editor, One of the main reasons that the current budget means something to me, is the questionable manner in which former president Jagdeo’s administration, and now President Ramotar’s regime have been showing media bias, and more particularly, apparent favouritism in the granting of licences for radio stations and cable channels to operate in Guyana.

Dear Editor, In the wake of the brief exchange between yours truly and Mr Khemraj Ramjattan on the issue of the AFC’s support of the Sports and Arts Fund, I am happy to announce that the party has re-engaged me in advising where I can and I am qualified to do so.
