The Guyana/Cuba Friendship Association is inviting members of the public who are interested in fostering good relations between the two countries to join their group.
In a press release the group said its members comprise parents of students studying in Cuba under the government’s scholarship programme and graduates of the programme and persons who benefited from special medical care in that country.
The association said it is hosting a meeting on Friday at City Hall and invites all members and persons who are interested in developing, learning, extending and maintaining friendly relations between the two countries through sharing cultural heritage, religion and cuisine. The group also encourages citizens to make an effort to understand and support Cuba’s education and health care programmes which benefit students and citizens. The meeting starts at 5 pm.
