Three hospitalised after West Dem accident

An accident early yesterday morning during which a car hit a parked truck has left three persons nursing injuries at the hospital

Indra Chintan, her 15-year-old daughter Padmini, of Endeavour, Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara (WBD) and the driver of the car were admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) Corporation. Indra Chintan had to undergo surgery because of the injuries she suffered.

Two other persons: Dhanpattie Beepat, 50, and 14-year-old Ravi Chintan were treated and discharged.

According to reports at about 2.30 am the car was dropping off passengers when it collided with a parked truck at Good Hope, Canal Number One, WBD. On hearing the impact public-spirited residents rushed out of their homes to help to free occupants of the car who were pinned down.

The injured persons were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital from where they were transferred to the GPH.

Yesterday residents speculated about how the car could have hit the parked truck as they said it was parked well at the side of the road.

One resident told Stabroek News she heard a loud crash and ran out of her house only to see that the car had spun crossway across the road as a result of the impact. She also said she saw a lot of blood.
