Police are investigating two accidents that occurred in two different parts of the country taking the lives of two men in the process.

According to a release from the police, 70-year-old Habib Khan of Triumph, East Coast Demerara, was struck down and killed around 10:50 hrs yesterday on Mon Repos Public Road.

Police investigations revealed that Neil Rudder, 44, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, was driving his car along the roadway when it is alleged that Khan attempted to cross the road and was struck down. Khan was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

And on Saturday night 38-year-old Nazuriddin Al Rasheed of Mount Sinai, West Canje, was killed in an accident on Kent Street, New Amsterdam.

Reports are that Rasheed was standing on the roadway when he was struck down by a motor vehicle, which drove away from the scene.

He was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he died while receiving medical treatment.
