The New Building Society (NBS) has appointed Ahmad Murtza Khan as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Khan assumed office yesterday, the NBS said in a press release. It also said Khan’s banking career spans 34 years “of progressive working experience in the areas of senior management, business finances, commercial operations, corporate planning and security and foreign trade.” He began his banking career with Barclay’s Bank PLC in 1973 as the officer-in-charge of the Foreign Trade Department and worked his way up over 21 years. Khan then joined Demerara Bank in 1994 and assumed the post of general manager in 1997.
