Dear Editor,

I am a resident of Charity and share the concern of many who believe that Charity still needs to be monitored, especially the Charity river dam. Several persons are building huge structures along the Charity river dam without the consent of the authorities. This is very dangerous. The river dam comes under the sea defence authority. This means that the Minister of Works needs to know of such development.

Some time ago a huge wharf went down, very soon the Charity marketing centre will follow if urgent attention is not given to this deteriorating structure.

Lawlessness continues to be the order of the day along the sides of the Charity public road. Several persons are allowed to build ugly looking structures to the distress of the residents of this beautiful town in the making.

An urgent solution must be sought to remedy this unpleasant situation. The structures are built by persons from other parts of the coast. No one would allow any of us to go in front of their homes or businesses place, and erect such an ugly structure which we have to endure on a daily basis.

Come next year the residents and visitors of Charity Town are looking forward to a better environment where we all can work, play ,and have a nice community.

Happy New Year to all.

Yours faithfully,

Andrieko Basir
