Timehri Panthers, Mocha Champs and Grove Hi-Tech all chalked up their first wins in the 2007 East Bank Football Association season. The season opener at the Grove Playfield on Sunday last was preceded by a march past of teams which featured six clubs.

In the first match of the opening day, Timehri Panthers who are the number one seed brushed aside Barama Company 2-0 with Sheldon Holder in the 37th and Andy Higgins in the 44th minute leading the way. In the second game Mocha Champs had to wait until sudden death penalty kicks to defeat Kuru Kururu Warriors after their game ended with both teams deadlocked at 1-1.

Both sides then scored four out of five penalty kicks before Mocha Champs won 3-2 in the sudden death. In the final match of the night, Grove Hi-Tech beat Kuru Kuru Lions 3-0 through goals from Orson Francois who netted a double and an own goal by a Lions’ defender. The competition continues on Sunday at the same venue.
