Standards Bureau helping craft sector

The Standards Bureau says the craft sector is important to the economy as it provides foreign exchange and as such it is working with stakeholders to streamline the sector.

At a meeting earlier this month, stakeholders discussed reviving the Craft Association, developing its action plan and establishing a national committee of representatives from various ministries and agencies, a press release from the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) said.

GNBS Executive Director Dr Chatterpaul Ramcharran told the meeting that providing assistance to it is vital to expanding the craft business. Ramcharran said too assistance is needed in order to improve the quality of products and to gain access to foreign markets.
