No flyers on GPL poles

Permission must be sought from and granted by the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) for the placement of any posters, flyers or banners on its poles and legal action will be taken against those infringing this, the electricity company has stated.

The power company, in a press release said that it has observed that many of its utility poles are being illegally utilized by persons placing advertisements for various fund-raising events. It noted that the practice is illegal and called for the immediate halting of this practice.

“GPL wishes to make it very clear that all of its network structures are the property of the company. This makes them private property. Anyone found erecting anything on these poles will be dealt with severely by the law. Any posters, flyers or banners found on any of our utility poles, will result in the person or persons responsible for the particular infraction being punished by law,” the release declared.
