NFMU seizes two-way radios at Bartica

The National Frequency Management Unit (NFMU) recently seized six illegal two-way radios in Bartica during its campaign against unlicensed and unauthorized radios using wireless telegraphy apparatus.
According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release the NFMU said persons who operate two-way radios are guilty of defrauding the state of fees. They also risk compromising the communication systems of aeronautical and maritime users and other licensees who depend on their radios.

The NFMU said that the frequencies reserved for aeronautical or maritime users are often discovered in the radios of some operators. As such it urges the public to ensure they operate within the confines of the law by being properly licensed and by ensuring that the radios are operated on authorised radio frequencies only.

Additionally, the NFMU said persons who have two-way radio antennas/aerials but do not have the complementing equipment and/or licences to establish and operate them, must dismantle such operations.
