Dear Editor,

Docol’s recent announcement of a price reduction for their 20lb cooking gas cylinders as a result of the drop in oil prices on the world market has prompted me to pen this letter.

To exclude users of the 100lb cylinders from the price reduction is discriminatory. It suggests that we can afford the high cost. Gone are the days in Guyana when assets determined who was rich or what one’s status was. Ironically one could argue that the recent gasolene reduction introduced by the government and dealers should exclude Prados, four-wheel drives and other luxury-type vehicles.

I trust that they will reconsider us pensioners who also use 100lb cylinders.

Yours faithfully,
(Name and address
