A four-wicket haul from Wasim Haslim enabled Regal XI to record a four-wicket victory over Savage XI in the District of Columbia Metro Cultural Organization (DCMCO) sponsored 15-overs-a-side softball competition recently.

Haslim, who recently returned from Scotland where he had a successful stint with Ferguslie Cricket Club, grabbed 4-21 and along with B. Roopan with 2-18, saw Savage XI dismissed for 100 from their allotted overs with Alli (42) and R. Tappin (15), the principal scorers.

In reply, Regal XI reached 103-6 on the back of an unbeaten 59 from Z. Alli while K. Singh contributed 28. Tappin returned to scalp 2-25 for Savage XI.

In other results, Park Rangers defeated De Falcons in their encounter after De Falcons batted first and scored 109 from their 15 overs with N. Bishun with 47 and Z. Khan (15) being the leading scorers against the bowling of Rudy Rodrigues (3-14) and Ryan Singh (3-10).

M. Rafeek (40) and R. Ramnauth, who made 33, were the principal scorers for Park Rangers who scored 110 runs to complete the victory.

Ariel and Wolf Warriors met in the third match of the day, with the Wolf Warriors getting the better of Ariel by four wickets. Ariel batted first and scored 165-7 from their 15 overs with S. Kingston (31) and A. Dindial (27) the top scorers.

T. Singh took 3-44 for Wolf Warriors who scored 167-6 in reply with Amrit Jairam (83) and Asif Ahmad 31 leading their victory charge.

Destiny XI defeated De Falcons by seven wickets in the final match of the day.
De Falcons batted first and scored 128-8 from 15 overs with R. Singh contributing 61 while N. Bishun supported with 15 as M. Khan and Raj with two wickets each. Destiny’s XI scored 129-3 in reply on the back of S. Deosarran’s 47 and R. Alli 25.
The competition continues today. In the opening match Ariel will oppose Regal from 10am at the Softball ground number two pitch. The umpires are Mark Miller and Patrick Edwards.

At noon, Falcons will oppose Demerara Power and Light on the same ground  with Arnold Padmore and R. Ramgobin the officials.

At the NIS ground, Ryan will oppose Untouchables from 10am with Ramgobin and Padmore officiating while Untouchables will take on Rafman from noon at the same venue with Edwards  and Miller the officials.

The final match will pit Savage against Trophy Stall from 2pm at the Softball ground number two pitch with Edwards and Miller the men in charge.
